Sabine Breitsameter was appointed Professor for Sounddesign and Production/Media Arts and Sciences at the Faculty of Media, Hochschule Darmstadt/Germany in 2006. As an expert for sonic media art, experimental radio, electroacoustic art and design as well as for sound and media culture, she created numerous radio plays and radio documentaries mainly for German public radio ARD.

Since the beginning of the 1980s she has been working as an author, director and dramaturgue for cultural radio programs. Important milestones were stations like RIAS Berlin, Sender Freies Berlin, Hessischer Rundfunk, Radio Bremen and Southwestgerman Radio SWR. At the latter she started in 1998 on behalf of the radio drama department producing her monthly official SWR-Website „Audiohyperspace“ on acoustic spaces in networks and multimedia data spaces, which was accompanied by occasional on air radio programs within the frame of the program slot „RadioART online“. Very soon, the website gained a high international reputation. Since the end of 2009 she has been running „Audiohyperspace“ independently.

Sabine Breitsameter started in 1993 at the Sender Freies Berlin a periodical experimental radio program called „Radiokunst“ (since 1994 „Internationale digitale Radiokunst/International Digital Radio Art“), she has been directing art projects, symposia, and festivals (e.g. „All Ears – Symposium on Listening“/Kassel 1997 in parallel to the Documenta; „Sound, Media and Urban Space“(Academy of Arts Berlin 2005); „Radio_Copernicus – the German-Polish Artist Radio“/Berlin-Wroclaw 2004-2006). She was co-founder of the master program „Soundstudies“ at the University of  the Arts Berlin and worked there as a guest-professor for Experimental Audiomedia from 2004-2008.Working in numerous juries she has been part of the jury of the „Deutsche Hörbuchpreis“/German Award for Audiobooks as well as for the International Prix Ars Electronica/Linz. Currently, Sabine Breitsameter is preparing a new edition of publications by R. Murray Schafer, a Canadian thinker, practioner and anticipator of the idea of sounddesign.
